Tonight's big losers, other than the Heat: Michael Wilbon, Jon Barry, Bruce Bowen.
I hope you enjoyed your hilarious little game of one-upmanship, lining up to take cheap shots at the ol' new Knickerbockers. Game to 136? Triple-double for LeBron? 40 for Wade? How'd that turn out? Sorry, I must be reading the wrong box score.
I'm really not bitter that you picked against my team. In all honesty, I went into the game hoping for a moral victory at best. I mean, we lost to the Cavs. It's not that any prediction was unreasonable or even unlikely. It's the smug, self-congratulatory tone, the know-it-all-ism. Apparently all it takes to be an ESPN expert is an ability to spout the same tired hype -- based partly on fact, but mostly on your own publicity machine. But you call yourselves analysts? What do your hyperbolic predictions add to the discussion? And of course, it's too much to ask for a little accountability in our sports punditry. I wonder if those clowns even watched the game to see if they were at all close, or if they just cashed their paychecks and called it a Sunday night.
Rant over. Go Knicks!
