Memories of Illyria

This last weekend I had the pleasure of seeing the Brown Box Theatre Project's rendition of Twelfth Night.  I don't have much to add to the already positive reviews; enjoyed the play immensely, laughed out loud, thought it was very well done -- acting (as far as I'm qualified to judge), costumes and sets, even the few instances of stage fighting.  Much more fun than reading Shakespeare for English class.

All told, I'm pretty positive on old Illyria, which, as I seemed to recall, was indeed the archaic name for the Croatian coast.  Last summer, I spent about a week exploring its picturesque pebble beaches, ancient Roman ruins and influences, and its array of travelers from across the world.  Between 16th-century dramatic romps and contemporary travels, the land has definitely provided some good (mostly) clean summer fun!

That said, even with some trappings of high culture, the Ocean City, MD, version is nothing to compare to the Zlatni Rat...
