The CrossFit difference, after just a month...

As of tomorrow, I'll have spent a month doing serious, regular CrossFit workouts.  It's part Tough Mudder training, part challenge, and part experiment.  My story won't ever be as dramatic as some.  But I have already hit some accomplishments I'm pretty proud of.

In a few short weeks, I've:
  • Developed callouses on my hands.  Yeah, I may still have overall "soft hands," but it makes me feel just that little bit more manly.
  • To date, have deadlifted and front-squatted more than my body weight.  Will see what else I can add to the list.
  • Overcome a number of minor "goats."  It's rewarding to have something click in your mind, with or without expert help.  For example, I can kick into a handstand!  Squats and kettlebell swings are now my thing.  Still working on kipping, though.
  • Outrun people in better shape than me.  I wasn't built to be the best weight-lifter, but there are definitely exercises I can just nail.  One of them is just running that 400 or 800 meters.
  • Started to appreciate my meals more.  Since I've started working out *hard* regularly, I've been hungrier and food has just tasted better.  When your body needs something, it lets you know, and rewards you when you get it!  The last couple years have been good for trying out new restaurants, recipes, etc.; if I keep the work up, it will only get better.
  • Hell, just walking around feels good!  There's usually that little bit of burn.  And I feel like I can stand up a little straighter, both physically, and from just a little more confidence.
  • Just felt like I look better.  Enjoy!
